Druze Grand Sheikhs of the Highest Rank – مشايخ دروز من أعلى رتبة

The highest ranked Druze monks / Sheikhs wear a striped black-white pattern abbayah and a round hat called the Mokawara. There’s usually around 1 to 5 high ranked monks in Lebanon, and the rank is usually carried across by the old Masters during their late years by giving their abbayah to monks they select. Mostly to those monks who were introduced to the Druze faith from their younger years and dedicated all their lives to it. They are expected to isolate themselves, but they also are expected to work for their livelihood and be carriers of goodness and kinship to their community.

المشايخ الدروز ترتدي في أعلى رتبة عباية مخططة باللونين الأبيض والأسود وقبعة مستديرة تسمى المكورة. عادة ما يكون هناك ما يقرب من 1 إلى 5 ذوي المرتبة الاعلى في لبنان ، و يتم نقل الرتبة من خلال إعطاء العباءة لمن يختارهم الأسبقين. في الغالب تكون لهؤلاء الرهبان الذين تعرّفوا على العقيدة الدرزية منذ صغرهم وخصصوا كل حياتهم لها. من المتوقع أن يعزلوا أنفسهم ولكن يُتوقع منهم أيضًا أن يعملوا لكسب رزقهم وأن يكونوا حاملي الخير و المحبة لمجتمعهم.

For instance, the prominent Druze grand sheikh Abu Muhammad Jawad Wali El Deen was also a beekeeper, and shares the philosophy of the bee in this Arabic documentary (similar ideas can be found among Rosicrucians, whose founder is said to have visited the Lebanese Druze).

The emphasis in this degree is on how Druze royals and monks work as laborers (Sons of Labor – Bani Maaroof) and do not remain idle to avoid laziness and degeneracy. And the degree mentions “birth”, but like the Druze, ensures that it’s not a guarantee to attain this degree (Druze can reject a candidate who is born Druze). There’s also other similarities such as a rainbow-colored collar they wear (similar to the Druze flag), although the blazing star / gnostic star (which the Druze use) is mentioned in a later degree.

التركيز في هذه الدرجة على كيفية عمل الأمراء و المشايخ الدروز كعمال دؤوبين لتفادي الخمل و الرذيلة. وتذكر النسب (ولكن كما الدروز) تقول أنها لا تضمن وحدها الحصول على هذه الدرجة (يمكن للدروز رفض قبول إنتساب درزي في المجلس). هناك أيضًا أوجه تشابه أخرى مثل وشاح يرتدونه بألوان قوس قزح (على غرار علم الدروز). أما النجم الغنوصي المخمس مذكور في درجة لاحقة.
